Hidden Skoda Fabia Optical Illusion

Be sure you update your Vista gadget, I just made the featured post about it – above. Chris O’Bray found these incredible photos, and decided to share them with our community. This is what Chris said: “You’ve probably got dozens of people sending you this, but just in case it’s passed you by. Check this story and pictures out! Love the site by the way. I use the Google gadget – by far its the most interesting thing on my home page!”
It took Sara Watson three weeks to transform the car seen below, and make it invisible. She made a battered old Skoda “disappear” by painting it to merge with the surrounding car park. This invisible Skoda is now being used for advertising by the local recycling firm that donated the vehicle. Sara was given the Skoda Fabia from the breaker’s yard at local firm, whose owner Steve Jackson described her work as “simply amazing”. Are you able to see the car without any problem? Perhaps our color-blind readers will see it more quickly, as they are better at penetrating certain camouflages (supposedly). Oh, I almost forgot to share that I managed to pass my exam – just 8 more before getting a diploma!

Wavy Floor Optical Illusion

Look how amazingly wavy this floor looks like. I don’t know what kind of drink architect took while designing this, but I sure know I’d like to taste a glass of it, or maybe two. Nah, just kiddin’. What you see below, is actually a picture of the new carpet being installed in the ballroom of the Marriott Solana – in Southlake, Texas. The fact is that the floor is flat. It is the carpet pattern that makes it look amazingly hilly. Great effect, do you agree?

“Don’t Step into Danger” – 3D Chalk Drawings

In Auckland City, over 70% of road crashes involving pedestrians occur on main roads. At least the official statistics state so. So the Auckland City Council (Pedestrian Safety) decided to take precaution measures, and used attractive 3D Chalk drawings to warn their citizens of the danger that lurks them on every step. The campaign involves Fire, Sharks and Snakes, and is titled “Don’t step into danger”. This decision greatly reminds me of Philadelphia’s effort to slowdown speedy drivers using fake 3D speed-bumps. Remember that one? Be also sure to check 3D Chalk Drawings and Billboards category for more optical illusions like this one! The advertising agency responsible: Ogilvy, New Zealand.

Pavement Art Illusions From Germany

Manfred Stader and Edgar Müller are the the street painters whose talent is behind these incredible pavement drawings. Having traveled the world, and studied many type of paintings, they now run their own business in Germany creating pavement paintings and street art, often for companies that pay them to create unique chalk drawing campaigns for them. If you are a regular visitor of Mighty Optical Illusions website, you’ll notice some similarity with Julian Beever’s stuff, mostly through colorful pallets Manfred and Edgar use, along with incredibly realistic motives.
Oh yeah, I also added some funny clips at the bottom of my blog’s sidebar. You can check them out if you are in for a good laugh…

A “New” Concept in Interior Design

“If you thought you have seen it all in the name of designer homes, then it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee.” This is how the new-age designers preach, in order to get stronger acceptance for their unorthodox solutions. The new concept of designing offices or studios with this unique concept of Optical Illusion is something that started with Victor Varsarely’s work from few years ago, I think. An optical design on the walls makes sense only from one angle and all others just make up for an interesting graffiti like structure. The concept was created by graduates of Chelsea School of Art and Design, claiming it innovative and attention seeking, one of a kind 3D design, yet I think of it as nothing more than a replica of what we have already seen…

Very cool 3D Sidewalk Art

What a masterpiece of art! The incredible detail right down to the elaborate clouds and incredible perspective make this sidewalk art come to live. It might not be as much of a 3d optical illusion like some of the other sidewalk chart drawings, but it's worth seeing anyway, isn't it?

Want to try your hand at this? Why not pick up some artist's chalk drawing supplies from Crayola or another company that makes them and try it out on your cement patio or driveway! What a great way to introduce kids to 3D art and perspective!
